Iraq veteran will challenge Rep. Paul Broun representing
Georgia's 10th Congressional District
Nicholson, Georgia – Bobby Saxon, Iraq War veteran and small
businessman, announced his candidacy for Congress in
Georgia's 10 th District today. Saxon, a Democrat, made the
announcement from the front porch of his home in Jackson
County to a crowd of friends, family, and North Georgia
Democrats.
"As a proud Democrat and candidate for Congress, I am
committed to continuing to serve America and Georgia," said
Saxon. "I pledge to campaign in all 21 counties in the 10th
District, talking to the voters, listening to their
concerns, and working together to create an America that
commands respect on the world stage, and promotes
opportunity for all at home."
Saxon, 45, enlisted as a Private First Class with the
Georgia National Guard in 1983. In 1985, Saxon qualified as
a paratrooper, and the following year, he was commissioned
as a Second Lieutenant. In 1987, Saxon graduated from
Georgia Southern University with a BBA in Management and
transferred from the Georgia National Guard to active duty
with the U.S. Army. In 1990, Saxon finished his active duty
tour and returned stateside to pursue a career in business,
starting his own business,
PC
POWERUSER, INC. in 1997.

National Guard, and was called to duty in 2003. In 2005,
Major Saxon was deployed to Iraq with the 3 rd Infantry
Division. Following a year with the 3rd ID, including six

tour at the Pentagon. At the end of 2006, Saxon returned to
Georgia to re-start his business. He remains a member of the
Georgia National Guard.
In his announcement, Saxon stressed his commitment to issues
of foreign and domestic policy. "Congress needs more
patients and less doctors," said Saxon. On education, Saxon
called for teachers to be allowed to teach and not just
instruct, adding "when I'm elected to Congress, No Child
Left Behind will most likely be left behind."
"The philosophy of helping people in need and standing up
for people's individual rights is a philosophy that guides
my actions and decisions. I'm running for Congress because
Georgia deserves better leadership and I'm ready to serve."
Saxon has begun assembling his campaign team. Former
Democratic Party of Georgia Field Director Michael Cantone
has signed on as the campaign manager. Former Georgia
Association of Democratic County Committees 10th District
